Nonogram Nook is a puzzle app made by TJ. This page explains what the app stores, what it sends to our server, and how to delete it. We collect as little as we can.

On your device

Your puzzles in progress, your results, your streak and your settings are saved on your phone. A daily reminder, if you turn it on, is scheduled on your phone too. None of this leaves the device unless it's listed below.

Sent to our server

The first time you open the app it creates an anonymous account. We don't ask for your name, email address or phone number. The server keeps:

The server also hands out each day's puzzle. Practice puzzles and older puzzles you replay aren't sent.

This data is stored with Supabase, our database provider. Like any web server, it sees your IP address when the app connects, and keeps it in short-lived logs to keep the service running.

Who can see it

People in a group with you see your nickname and your results for the days the group shows. Nobody else sees them. We look at reported nicknames and results so we can remove names that break the rules. We don't sell your data, and we never give advertisers your results, nickname or account ID. The ads section below says what the ad service collects itself.

Sharing

When you tap Share, the app makes the text or picture on your phone and hands it to your phone's share sheet. It only goes where you send it.

Crash reports

If the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a crash report to Sentry, our crash reporting service, so we can fix it. A report holds the error, where in the app's code it happened, the app version, and your phone's model and system version. It doesn't include your account ID, nickname, puzzles or anything you typed, and we've set Sentry not to store IP addresses.

Ads

The app shows a small banner on the home and result screens, and you can choose to watch a short ad to fill a missed day in this week's scene. There are never ads on the puzzle screen, and Supporters see none at all.

Ads come from Google AdMob. When the app shows an ad, AdMob collects your device's advertising ID, your IP address (which gives a rough location), how you interact with the ads, and diagnostics about how the ads perform. Google uses this to show ads, measure them and stop fraud. See Google's privacy policy for what it does with it.

Where the law asks for it, such as in the UK and the EU, the app asks for your consent before it loads any ads. On iPhone, ads are only personalised if you allow tracking when your phone asks; otherwise you get ads that aren't based on your activity in other apps. You can change this later in your phone's settings.

Purchases

The Supporter unlock and tips are bought through the App Store or Google Play, which handle the payment. We never see your card or payment details. We use RevenueCat to check what you've bought. It gets a record of your purchases and a random ID it makes for this app, not your account ID or nickname.

Analytics

The app has no analytics. We'll update this page before adding any.

Deleting your data

In the app, go to Settings and tap Delete my data. That deletes your account and everything above from our server straight away, then clears the app on your phone.

If you delete the app without doing that first, your results stay on the server under an account nobody can sign in to. Email us with your nickname and roughly when you played, and we'll find and delete it.

Delete my data doesn't touch your purchase record, because the stores and RevenueCat keep it so you can restore what you bought. Email us if you want RevenueCat's copy deleted too.

Children

Nonogram Nook is for a general audience and isn't aimed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is a big one, we'll mention it in the app's release notes too.
